Re: Savage Vendetta - 60's clinker, looking for original pics.

Hey everyone. So, It's been an embarrassingly long time since my last post...... I kind of got distracted on some other projects, that also still aren't finished ...hahah. I have been keeping an eye on this forum on and off though. I finally got my project in the water for the first time a few weeke...

Re: Savage Vendetta - 60's clinker, looking for original pics.

hi Ross My plan for the Deck was to use 3mm ply (which I bought 2 years ago for this purpose). I was also considering putting thin strip planks of oak, or similar over the top of the ply, to get the classic planked look. I'm just concerned about the additional weight of using both those options toge...

Re: Savage Vendetta - 60's clinker, looking for original pics.

Well it has been a long time since my last update on this project. I have just managed to put it in the water to test the jet and motor...., boat still strapped to the trailer, and still without the deck in place. I have uploaded a couple of videos to youtube of the jet running. If anyone knows anyt...

Re: Steering cable

Hi all I've just replaced the steering cables as part of a restoration project. I had the same questions about which type of cable to use. The plastic coated galv stuff only came in an ugly blue colour, so I used that where it can't be seen. I've used SS on the exterior bits that can bee seen. I hav...

Re: Savage Vendetta - 60's clinker, looking for original pics.

these two rotten plank were actually the only non-original planks on the boat. So, I mean they had already been repaired, but whoever did the repair used mild steel screws, and possibly not marine ply, so both repairs were already rotten.
Here is my attempt at repairing the rotten planks.

Re: Savage Vendetta - 60's clinker, looking for original pics.

thanks for the replies folks. Good point about the water supply coming from the jet, so a clutch isn't practical unless there is some other way to cool the engine. That's how mine works also. I hadn't considered that, so a clutch is a no-go. In regard to the steering, just curious, mine has twin rud...

Re: Savage Vendetta - 60's clinker, looking for original pics.

As you can see, I have turned it back into a two cockpit boat, and thrown out the old engine cover. I've made new engine mounts, and have fitted the engine in. I've got it to sit a bit lower than before, and the drive shaft is more straight inline with the jet. I pulled the engine out again to fix a...

Re: Savage Vendetta - 60's clinker, looking for original pics.

Hi all I've been reading about the classic power boat 'spectacular' down at Goolwa this coming weekend, and wishing I had my old clinker ready to go down there, but it's still a long way from that unfortunately. I'll definitely head down there on Sunday for a look around. I thought I'd upload some m...

Re: Resealing timber hull

Hi Glenn you definitely need a pin-stripe of some sort (white/chrome/bronze) between the colour and the clear. Here is a link to a thread I started a while ago when I first got the boat. http://cawpba.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=508 I also bought a v8 jeep to tow my boat, and unfortunately i...
