Re: Thunda Babe
Steam bending failure no1. PVC looses it's shape a lot when it gets to 80 degrees. I've now built another steamer. It's good to work on steel for a change. ;) Tried bending my first rib and it cracked, oddly enough, exactly where the original one was cracked. I'm now thinking about plan c. 295105320...

Re: Thunda Babe
Set up the bench today for bending the ribs. I made the blocks adjustable by offsetting the screw so they can move like an offset cam. Hopefully I should be able to bend a group of ribs with the allowable adjustment for each different arc. Steamer work tomorrow. 295864465_589937645835099_43467490082...

Patent office lol. More like I'm going to get done for copyright infringement or some other law/regulation.

Re: Thunda Babe
Thanks Bob. The scarf came up ok. It fits up to the test piece well. Ross reckons the timber is Merbau, of which is readily available in the size I need by the looks of it. I've made a start on getting the steamer done so hopefully that will start soon. 295076832_501822638368829_3231898509705152574_...

Re: Thunda Babe
Knocked up a jig for scaring the keel. Did a test run on the stuffed section at it seems to work OK. Hope to do the keel tomorrow.

Great work Bob. I'd probably set the engine up before the deck goes on as you say. Nothing worse than having to work in a tight space especially as we age.

Re: Thunda Babe
It's been slow going with this project. One good day and then a few bad ones after having some procedures done on my back and neck a few weeks ago. A visit by Ross and Ken Rowley yesterday to chat about anything is always a big help and very much appreciated. I'm now about half way with sanding all ...

Sounds good to me Ken but I'm not married to your wife. I suppose it'll depend on how long you can be bashed about the ears for it.............

Welcome aboard Steve. She certainly looks a tidy old boat. It's pretty clean on the inside. I gather the problem area is around the transom underneath going by the dark patch in the bum. If you're chasing bits place a post in or "Wanted" area in the board index. http://cawpba.com/phpBB3/ O...
