Re: NARRANDERA
No, not running a stainless prop.
In any case this one is now a paper weight and I have to get a new one.

Re: NARRANDERA
The crew and I were talking on the Sunday after we found the cracked prop that we need to implement an aircraft level inspection before each run. we've always informally inspected the boat during the course of each day but we now think that we should make a more formal list and go through that list ...

Re: NARRANDERA
Great sets of photo's all round. Very good pictorial of the weekend. We made some progress with The Spook over the weekend. GPS peak speed reading was 172kph on Sunday morning, which was the highest GPS peak speed for the boat since I've had it on the water. Then I discovered a large crack in the pr...

Re: NARRANDERA
Started packing the ute yesterday, 140 liters of fuel should do it. 7 jerry cans fit neatly across the front of the ute tray. Two large plastic tubs behind them with oil, coolant and other necessities for a trip away. Tool box tidied and sorted. Spare wheel bearing, you never know. Whistle, paddle, ...

Re: Winter fixes
That's it in a nutshell as I understand it. The power valve can only flow fuel into the carby via the main jet circuit and apparently that's what happens if the idle vacuum can't keep the power valve closed. Yes I do have the primary butterflies drilled with a 2.5 mm drill and that helps maintain th...

Re: Winter fixes
Woodray The power valve isn't supposed to have any influence on the idle circuit. However the issue of whether it does or does not is dependent upon the relationship of the power valve value and the idle vacuum of the engine. A 65 (6.5 inches of vacuum) value power valve needs an engine vacuum above...

Re: Winter fixes
Woodray I have used colour plugs before as I had a couple of Ducati motorbikes during my twenties and they (colour plugs) are the greatest thing for tuning idle mixtures on engines, mainly because you can actually see the colour of the flame inside the cylinder. Once you know that you have the engin...

Re: Winter fixes
Dave That's what I intend to do is muck around with the tune of the engine at Naranderah. I come from a technical background so I'm trying to use technology to achieve said tune and getting information out of so called experts is like getting blood out of a stone, so I have to research it and figure...
