Classic Australian Wooden Power Boats
1950's style 20' (6.0 mtr) gentleman's runabout
Built during 2011, the Glen-L Marine “MONACO” design is based on the American classic Chris Craft “Racing Runabout” of the 1950’s.
Using the “Cold-Moulding” method, this craft is constructed from 3 layers of epoxy encapsulated 4.5mm thick marine grade ply laid in alternating diagonal strips over Douglas Fir battens and frames followed by the application of solid mahogany longitudinal planking, resulting in a very strong and beautiful boat.
The deck planking is separated by Australian beech stripping, the king plank and finishing boards are Tasmanian Blackwood.
No expense was spared in the building of this craft using the highest quality timbers, fixings, finishing’s and hardware together with the 5.7 litre Pleasure Craft Marine (PCM crate motor) fuel injected power plant.
Since launch day, December 3rd 2011 “Sucre Comme” has accumulated around 80 running hours.
Tonneau covers for both cockpits, marine canvas travel bra/stone guard, spare alloy trailer wheel.
The purpose built tandem wheel boat trailer was constructed by race boat builders Childs Play Marine. The total labour and materials build cost of this craft was $200,000.00
“Sucre-Comme” is, loosely, the French translation for “Sweet-As” ….because it is !
