LOWER COST AUSSIE POWERBOAT BOOKS

Graham Lloyd’s unique ‘Wood On Water In Australia’ book has been on our ‘For Sale’ website for quite some time now. You may recall Graham’s name from when he was editor of the long-gone ‘Australian Powerboat’ magazine and from his contributions to Club Marine and Tradeaboat magazines including many of his features on classic wooden boats. He has been a multi-decade supporter in print of ‘our sort’ of boats.

The market for books on powerboats is unfortunately limited and can’t attract publishers or justify the costs of volume printing. So, Graham’s self-published books were all print-one-at-a-time with consequent costs up to $200 a book or more for the large-format hard-cover volumes.

Whilst many purchased those books (which Graham greatly appreciated!), many others found the cost too high to justify. To overcome this, Graham has now produced a series of smaller-format soft-cover books which still present all the photos and details of the boats in fine style, but at much reduced costs from $35 to $60 each plus shipping. The latter typically adds about $32 as the books are quality-printed in the USA and shipped Express Freight.

There are five volumes available so far in this new lower-cost format – ‘Ski and Speed Boats’ (including a number of CAWPBA boats), ‘Mahogany Speedboats’, ’10 Halvorsen Cruisers’, ‘Edition VI’ (which includes details of many of the boats in the latter volumes), and ‘Putt-Putts & Launches’.
